Maisonneuve to Participate in Montreal’s First Literary Death Match
March 7, 2011Readings are boring, so why not introduce an edge of diabolical competition, right? That's why we're thrilled to be involved in Montreal's first-ever Literary Death Match, an event series that's sweeping the globe with its humour and ruthlessness. On March 13, 2011, at Club Lambi, Maisonneuve's "hand-picked poet" Melissa Bull will go up against Josip Novakovich, Alisha Piercy and Jon Paul Fiorentino in a lit-nerd fight to the death. Judging the performers are the hilarious Arjun Basu, Sherwin Tija and Alexis O'Hara.
Please join us! Here's what Literary Death Match has to say about the evening:
After way too long a wait, Literary Death Match (presented by Summer Literary Seminars, and supported by Iambik Audiobooks) is set to—finally!—debut in the original Sin City, as part of our 5-Year Anniversary General Mayhem Tour, and we've put together a knockout lineup that will have La Belle Ville in throes of literary delight.
The night's all-star arbiters include Shorty Award champ Arjun Basu (author of Squishy), poet/painter/mind wizard Sherwin Tjia (author of Gentle Fictions), and the all kinds of wonderful Alexis O'Hara!
The evening's literary stars boast fiction mastermind (and Guggenheim & NEA fellow) Josip Novakovich (author of April Fool's Day), visual artist and poetic brainiac Alisha Piercy (author of Auricle / Icebreaker), the inimitable Jon Paul Fiorentino (author of Indexical Elegies), and Maisonneuve's hand-picked poet Melissa Bull (author of Eating Out).
